My Personal Favorite Essential Oils And Their Health Benefits

Even though essential oils are called "oils" they do not produce the effects on the skin that an oil would.

I personally love essential oils and know that everyone could benefit from inhaling these aromatic compounds.

When using essential oils, you have to put a drop into your hand and rub it to activate the aromatic compounds and healing qualities.

You can then rub them into your abdomen, temples or anywhere that may be giving you trouble with digestion, headaches etc. Peppermint works great for these uses.

Here are some of the benefits and ways that I use some of the most popular essential oils:

    • Eucalyptus - I use this oil when using a sauna at the gym. I usually mix 3 drops of oil with a couple oz. of water in a spray bottle. Most saunas permit spraying the mixture on the rocks. Doesn't have to be precise, but know that essential oils are very concentrated and don't require very little for the effects. The combination of the heat and the oil mixture in the air will open up your lungs and make you feel great. With Eucalyptus I can breathe better and immediately lose anxiety and stress when breathing in the aroma. It is a very distinctive aroma that you will love. I spray the oil/water mixture on the heater and everyone usually asks what it is and talk about the benefits.
    • Tea Tree - This is another one of my favorite oils. It helps with acne, skin cuts as well as dandruff. I use this oil for my cuticles and cuts to prevent scarring and speed up the healing process.
    • Sweet Orange - This is an oil derived from an evergreen tree. It has antidepressant effects for sure. There's no way you can come home angry, lay down in bed, sniff sweet orange oil and still be as angry. It is safe to put on your skin and I usually put 4-5 drops under warm running water in the bathtub.
This oil has many qualities:
Antidepressant, antiseptic, antispasmodic, aphrodisiac, carminative, cordial, deodorant, digestive, stimulant (nervous) and tonic (cardiac, circulatory). It has also been applied to combat colds, constipation, dull skin, flatulence, the flu, gums, slow digestion, and stress.
I can relate to the antidepressant effects and stress effects. When I have breathing trouble, sinus congestion or anything related to breathing function, essential oils are often overlooked. Vicks vapor rub is something similar to eucalyptus oil with its use of menthol.
I prefer essential oils over any mainstream cold remedy because their potency and the fact that they are naturally derived.

Glade and other smell-good companies show commercials and ads for these items that may smell good, but will not give any physical benefit like essential oils.
