#244 John Tjenos, NTP on Vagus Nerve Optimization

John found his entry into holistic medicine through his own healing journey. Serious injuries resulting in chronic pain led him to seek healing through acupuncture, bodywork, and energy work.

On this journey, he trained in Soma Neuromuscular bodywork and became a Touch for Health instructor.  At this point, muscle testing became a foundation of his bodywork practice.

When John found Aston-Patterning, he discovered the critical concepts of bioindividuality and how structural integrity governs our wellbeing. He was a student of the renowned Judith Aston.

Soon, he learned that one’s physiological and nutritional status had a profound impact on the body’s structure. This discovery led him to train in nutritional therapy with Grey Graham and become one of first instructors for the Nutritional Therapy Association.

John’s work is also informed by Dr. Klinghardt’s Autonomic Response Testing, Visceral Manipulation, Craniosacral Therapy, Functional Neurology, and his many years training in martial arts with his inestimable teacher Dennis Dwyre.

In the midst of it all, John learned different forms of energy medicine from masters. With his sensitivity to energy and vast experience with the human body, John developed the ability to feel if body’s energy fields are balanced or in stress. This perception, an experience shared by healers throughout the history of the world, allows him to determine how a substance, emotion, or environment energetically affects a client.

Clinical Practice

With 30 years of experience working one-on-one with clients, John perceives himself first and foremost as a clinician. At his practice, Foundational Health Solutions, John synthesizes his background to create a unique approach to healing.

The philosophy of John’s work is that balance is a natural law. Loss of health begins with the disruption of the body’s homeostatic (balance-maintaining) mechanisms.

When balance is restored to the body, healing occurs. The question that always needs an an answer in healing is, “What is getting in the way of the body’s innately designed balance?”
